Collective bargaining update: I am pleased to report that the last round of collective bargaining has now concluded with the signing of the Collective Agreement on August 9, 2018.  NRC now has 120 days to implement the changes including issuing retroactive pay and updating salary rates.

PIPSC is selecting a President of Consultation for the VAC National Consultation Team (NCT). The term of the President will be for two years and the duties are outlined in the PIPSC Policy on Union-Management Relations: Consultation and Co-development. Applicants must also be free to travel to Ottawa as required if residing outside of the National Capital Region.

We are pleased to advise that an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Training session is being offered on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue in Vancouver, B.C. The OHS Training session will be one day, starting at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.  All participants are required to attend the full day.

Canadians who think it’s easier for the rich and corporations to avoid paying taxes have compelling new evidence to support their suspicions. Nine out of 10 Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax professionals surveyed by PIPSC agree “it is easier for corporations and wealthy individuals to evade and/or avoid tax responsibilities than it is for average Canadians.” That’s even more than the 79% of Canadians who agreed with the same statement in an Environics Research poll.
