The deadline for the Employer to process your retroactive pay is August 13, 2017. Some, but not all, SP Group members have already received it. In all cases, be assured that the Institute is ready to use every means at its disposal to ensure that you receive the complete, accurate amount you are are owed.
Group By-Law 8.13.1 states: One (1) Group Executive position shall be maintained for each region. In the event that there are more nominations than vacant positions to be filled in a region, the Elections Committee shall arrange for ballots to be distributed to all members eligible to vote in that region.
• This election is to elect the six (6) members (one from each regional position).

The PIPSC SP-Tunney’s Pasture Plus sub-group has teamed with the SP-NCR sub-group to offer a member appreciation and networking event…on a boat.
Date: Tuesday August 15, 2017 from 7pm to 10 pm.
Location: Gatineau docks (Port de plaisance Jacques-Cartier), located in Jacques-Cartier Park at 160 rue Laurier, Gatineau, QC.
Members of your Edmonton Executive have committed to volunteering for events in the city of Edmonton. As well as providing support to worthwhile causes (child, adolescent and family health), it lets those in the community know we are more than just faceless public servants we are participating members of the community.
The first event we are volunteering for in is on Labour day. It requires self registration. Volunteer if you are available.
Note that we will take pictures after the event to post on our regional facebook page.
Join members of the Calgary Branch Executive in an activity that demonstrates to the Calgary community that public servants are about much more than their next pay raise and sick day.
In this year of Canada’s 150th birthday, we are sponsoring a group/family clean-up of an area that Calgary Parks identify as in need. Bonus - there is plenty of free parking.
NR members have ratified the Tentative Agreement.
The next steps, currently underway, will require the employer to calculate the new pay rates and translate the new agreement prior to signing by both parties. This can hopefully be completed by the end of August.
In accordance with article 48.03 the employer will have a period of 120 days from the signature date to implement the new rates of pay, and issue retroactive payments. The recent experience of other Institute Groups has indicated that the majority of payments are being made well within the prescribed timelines.
