This year's AGM will be held November 2 and 3 at the Hilton Lac Leamy. The AGM is a gathering of the full membership of PIPSC as represented by delegates whose purpose is to review and set the policy direction of the Institute.

As Researchers, it is essential to be able to participate in conferences, not only for our career progression, but to benefit the research program and the reputation of the Government of Canada. We must remember that conference attendance as well as scientific and professional society participation are not ‘training’ or a ‘perk’, but rather a critical part of how we do our work.

Last month, I had the opportunity to represent PIPSC and the Canadian labour movement at the Labour 7 (L-7) summit in Ottawa. This was a preparatory meeting hosted by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) leading up to the G-7 meeting this summer in Québec.
