Supporting Wellness and Resilience during Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month!
Dear colleagues and friends,
October is a time of vibrant transformation, both in nature and in our workplace. As we enter fall, it reminds us that change is natural, full of potential, and can be met with resilience. Across Canada, this month is full of meaningful events, inviting us to reflect on our well-being, to recognize our contributions, and to take active steps toward building healthier, more inclusive work environments.
On the Agenda
- In October, we shine a spotlight on Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month (CHWM), which this year focuses on the theme “Unlocking Your Potential: Building Strength to Overcome Challenges.” This is a great time to unlock our potential by embracing change with agility, fostering belonging, and finding a sustainable balance between mental and physical well-being. Throughout the month, you can explore four weekly focus areas that reinforce this central message, offering practical tools and inspiration to help us thrive both individually and collectively.
Be involved by participating in some of the wellness activities mentioned below, connect with your colleagues, reflect on your personal well-being, and share helpful resources across your teams and workplace community.
- Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 5–11, 2025) and World Mental Health Day (October 10, 2025) are also in the spotlight this month, each offering a chance to focus on well-being, inclusion, and resilience.
These occasions remind us that a healthy workplace isn’t just about policies and programs—it’s shaped by the people in it. When we each of us helps create a space where others feel valued and supported, we all thrive.
We encourage you to have open discussions about mental health, free from stigma or fear of reprisal, as well as take an active role in safeguarding your well-being. Your feelings are valid, and you’re welcome to speak with your manager about any concerns you may have. Additional support is available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the tools and resources on ECCC’s Mental Health and Wellness Centre.
