Dental Plans

Current and retired PIPSC members are generally covered by a dental care plan.

PIPSC does not have access to your individual dental plan account. Your HR department can provide you with information on your specific plan.

Public Service Dental Plan

PIPSC members in the following groups are included in the Public service dental care plan (PSDCP):

The PSDCP is a private health service plan for federal public service employees and their eligible dependents. It covers dental services and supplies that are not covered by public healthcare, up to specific limits.

For example, x-rays, cleaning, fillings, treatment of gums, surgical extractions and repairs as well as adjustments to dentures are reimbursed at 90% of cost. The reimbursement amount is based on the provincial or territorial dental fee schedule (or its equivalent) from the previous year. Other services such as crowns, dentures, fixed bridges and orthodontics are reimbursed at 50% the of cost.

There is an annual deductible amount per person or per family which you must pay each calendar year. Expenses in excess of the deductible are eligible for reimbursement. The current PSDCP annual deductibles are $25.00 per person and $50.00 per family. The annual maximum for reimbursements limits will progressively increase from $2,000 in 2019 to $2,500 in 2021. The frequency of some procedures, such as dental cleanings, are limited.
