  2. President:

    a. Leah thanked everyone for attending, with special thanks to Lynn. She explained that this meeting is considered a Special AGM, we will not be voting on executive, as that was complete in April via virtual election, to get the executive up and running. Apologies for the oversight that we did not advertise this as a Special AGM. Next election will be in the Spring, 2025, looking at April/May, no official date set.

    b. Leah introduced the members of the executive:

1 year term: Meghan MacDonald (vice president), Jen Bulman (secretary) Sherry Maclean (member at large), Pam                          Condon (member at large)

2 year term: Stephanie Brown (treasurer, absent), Becky Tozer Fergusson (member at large) as well as the President,                   Leah Munro

    c. By-laws and Constitution: By-laws and Constitution were read and reviewed.

We now have 120 members of those 10 were identified as RAND.

RAND member is entitled to benefits of their respective collective agreement, basic union representation and                               protection. They are not entitled to participate in decision-making processes or priority setting.

We were able to get that number down to 5 RAND members, 115 regular members.

    d. SH Presidents Meeting Report: Leah gave a report of the Presidents Meeting held in B.C. earlier this year.

    e. Subgroup Social: Leah gave a report on the social event held in September at Red Shores. 35-40 in attendance, social              event at racetrack in judges stand. We had a race dedicated to our group. Good turnout, and the feedback was positive.

  1. Financial Report:
  • In the absence of Stephanie, Leah provided a financial report. $2300 originally requested. Received an additional $500 in extra funds. Total $2800. Social cost $1117.75. Balance $1682.25.
  • Member question: Does executive travel costs come out of this budget (I.e., Leah’s trip to B.C)? No, it does not.

  1. Guest Speaker: Lynn Ohlsen SH Group President. As SH Group National President Lynns discussion included:
  • The history of how the EMA classification joined PIPSC. The long, arduous case that started in 1978, ending in 2011 with the EMA’s joining PIPSC (from PSAC).
  • Bargaining process, including how the SH bargaining team was selected. Lynn indicated they look at who is having the most difficulty. Focus this round was on psychologists and northern nurses, while maintaining representation for everyone. She talked about the proposals, and indicated this is the first time proposals were published for members. She talked about negotiations including the process, priorities, as well as where the contract stands now. She hopes the contract will be signed in the next four weeks.
  • AGMS at the SH Group National level, past and upcoming in November, in Toronto.

  1. Pam thanked Lynn and gave her remarks on Lynn’ s talk.
