78th QRC - Québec City Branch Report

Québec City Branch Report to the May 2018 Regional Council

Dear colleagues,

The Québec City Branch has been very active again this year and its membership remains high (about 1,100 members). The following members currently serve on the Executive:

Denis Caissy, President, CS Group – DND
Claude Rony, member-at-large, VFS Group – CRA
Réjean Michaud, Vice-President, AFS Group – CRA
Karine Régimbald, SH-NU Group – DND
Lisanne Racine, Secretary, VFS Group – CRA
Daniel Brouillette, Treasurer, Retired Member, AFS Group – CRA
Pierre Claver Bigirindavyi, SH-NU Group – VAC
Denis Arsenault, Retired Member, SP Group
Jean Couillard, Member-at-Large, AFS – CRA

In addition to the 6 regular executive meetings, we held a variety of events this past year. The most popular being, of course, the AGM, which attracted a record number of over 120 members last September. The Branch AGM was the key event of the year and the Executive worked hard to maintain a strong turnout of members.  The venue chosen for the 2018 AGM was the Hotel des Nations in Wendake. We had a presentation by Yvon Brodeur on the work being done at the regional level, and a presentation on the proposed Sick Leave.

We held a family event in the spring to try and reach members we don’t usually see in our activities. It was quite successful with more than a hundred people showing up. We had games for all ages including inflatable games, KATAG, etc. For dinner we had one of the best Food-Trucks in town that people really liked.

We are currently working on aligning ourselves with PIPSC processes for posting/translation and funding for activities.

Thank you.

Denis Caissy, President, Québec City Branch
