President’s Report

Prairie Regional Council – June 02, 2018

Even though it is impossible to name all the dedicated volunteers in our branch, I would like to thank the Branch Executive and friends for volunteering their time: Christine Freeman, Jay Krishnan, Cory Graham, Jason Caners, Pramesh Selliah, Mohammad Khakbazan, Bryan Van Wilgenburg, Donna Johnson, Terri Gobeil, Linda Howes, Herbert Herrera, Brent Maine, Pam Kubicz, Randall Ridgway, Blair English, Aaron Glenn, Glen Schur, and Ron Goldberg.

  • Winnipeg & Southern Manitoba Branch activities for the past year
    • Branch met 9 times this past year to organize and strategize union events.
    • Members of our branch executive attended Prairie Regional Council, PIPSC Annual General Meeting, Lobbying MPs on Parliament Hill
    • We organized the following local events in 2017
      • National Public Service Week BBQ
      • Family Day @ the Zoo
      • Steward Appreciation BBQ and tour at the Canadian Mint
      • Your Future by Design® Retirement Planning Session
      • Annual Open House @ King’s Head Pub, Winnipeg
      • Annual Open House in Brandon
    • The Branch continued to support local activities, such as Children’s Xmas Party.
  • 2018 Plans
    • We plan on continuing and improving local member events.
    • Actively participate in local union activities such as Labour Day Parade.
    • Continue to lobby members of the House of Commons locally to advance our cause.

A Big Thank YOU to all stewards for their dedication and time on behalf of members and the Winnipeg PIPSC staff.

In closing I would like to Thank Glen Schur who has retired last year. He has been an active member on the Branch, union steward and union advocate for many years from CRA.
