2018 Branch Activities

Branch President & Vice-Presidents have participated in the Ontario Region’s Branch Presidents’ conference calls.

April 2018 Branch President and 3 stewards/executives attend ORC as delegates

May 2018 Several Branch stewards attended the Ontario Region Labour School.

Branch president & secretary meet with one of our new members located at the RCMP Regional Office in London to initiate contact and participation in the branch. RCMP members invited to our AGM.

Combined London Branch & AFS Subgroup AGM guest speakers, President of Fanshawe College Faculty Union, Doug Mason & AFS Ontario Representative Shawn Gillis.

We collected $160 from our members to donate to the London Food Bank.

June Branch members and stewards participate in the CRA London TSO golf tournament. London Branch provides several PIPSC Better Together promotional products for prizes.

August Our Treasurer Connie Lindsay sadly died after a valiant fight against cancer. She is remembered for her wisdom, positive, friendly attitude and her contributions to PIPSC and its members.

September London Branch and AFS Subgroup Executives and Stewards participate in London PSAC/UTE Labour Day member BBQ at London Federal Building. PIPSC “chips” handed out.

Branch Stewards hosted Labour Day outreaches for PIPSC & PSAC members at our DND, NRC, CFIA & AGCan locations.

AFS subgroup & London UTE host a family picnic

November PIPSC London Branch members, along with our brothers & sisters in Union of Taxation Employees located at the London TSO of CRA, participate in the United Way Stair climb.

PIPSC National AGM, Gatineau, Quebec – Delegates – Anthony Stone, Branch President, Doug Mason - AFS Group President, Peter Rodrigues, Branch MAL- NU/SH group delegate.

December London Branch again rented a suite for a London Knights OHL hockey game for our members and their families. London UTE members were sold unsubscribed tickets.

April 2019 Branch President and 3 Stewards/Executives are attending ORC as delegates.

Our AFS subgroup remains the largest and most active of our groups. It has been successful in recruiting 5 AFS members to become Stewards and/or Executives.

Our MALS at our other employer locations are doing a fantastic job of enhancing PIPSC’s presence and are active within their respective groups.

Peter Rodrigues -VA-NU (SH) -selected as a member of his group’s bargaining committee and group executive.

Suwas Nikumb, NRC-RO/RCO Group is active within his London location and also serves as Member-At-Large of the NRC PIPSC Executive nationally while attending their regular meetings and AGM.

Dean Bergmann, CS DND is active within his group at DND London.

Patrick Chapman, CS AGR & AGRF Canada is active within his group at Agriculture Canada London and coordinating outreach events with PSAC.

Robert Dickieson, CFIA–VM has been selected as member of PIPSC’s Ontario Young Professional’s Committee.

Issues and Concerns:

Membership retirement, Union Steward & Executive succession, integrating new employees, contract negotiations, Phoenix, staffing - promotions, performance management, safe workplace/harassment and bullying.

Resolutions to the Regional Council

National AGM 2018 - our resolution regarding Constituent Funding approved by the 2017 ORC was defeated.
