President’s Report for the Ottawa East Branch (OEB) for the 2018-19 Year - by Patricia Williams

We have been a very busy branch over the 2018-19 year.   The sole purpose of PIPSC Branches is to hold events to engage and provide a venue for people to network and learn about the Union and what is going on in the Union. Sometimes, we do this by hosting information sessions and sometimes we do this by bringing in families/spouses.

We realize that many people do not have a lot of spare hours outside of work so by holding events like Movies, Learning Sessions and many family events such as the Xmas Brunches…they are very effectual in bringing out people that normally do not engage with the Union and the variety of events bring out different groups/ages of members.

I continued to promote co-hosting events between the branches and groups in the NCR and it has been very successful. The executive and I want to co-host events as this affords us the ability to provide more events on less money and a richer experience for you, our members. You get to network with others from the NCR, have and attend a wider variety of events that interest you and they may be hosted much closer to your home.
