- Planning Winter Social 2024
Discussed possible joint event with Vancouver and Surrey subgroups similar to last year as there are 1408 members in the CRA Vancouver branch for both subgroups. Will coordinate with the subgroups for Winter social.
Dates: Dec 11 and 18, 2024
Venue: Rev’s Bowling, 5502 Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby
Door Prizes: Approved 50 giftcards x $10 = $500 Tim Horton’s and Starbucks coffee cards. Moved by Lauren Kunimoto. Seconded by Colin McBride. Carried.
Discussed whether to charge --- initially yes but after discussion decided not to charge for holiday social as the one time a year for bowling & pizza. We will have to monitor the amount of no shows to adjust for future events. No charge for members attending.
- National AGM
Discussed updating branch bylaws and how to proceed with proposing any resolutions for next year AGM. The process entails submitting to Executives first, send to committee, AGM to ratify, then submit to BC/Yukon to ratify and then to national AGM. Or alternatively submit as members directly to AGM after submitting to By Laws committee.
- Resolutions and Updating Branch ByLaws
There is a branch model on the website which we could emulate to update the branch bylaws to model – need to review and discuss.
- Roundtable
Tom Kirkpatrick – proposed to have 50/50 draw at Winter Social for Vancouver Food bank. He would look into obtaining license for 50/50 draw.
Greg Day - enquired if we can find out where members actually live vs where they work. This may help determine location of future holiday socials closer to where members actually live.
- Mauro Defeudis adjourned the meeting at 8:19 pm.
