3. Treasurer's Report
- Financials for 2018 YTD, budget for 2018 and 2019
- Motions for any expenses approved by email

4. Debrief on past meetings / events
- Branch AGM May 17, 2018
- Good to invite guests, VIU is excellent venue, appreciated PSAC attending
- Action - Will test zoom with in January executive meeting (Bill)
- Action: Send thank you note to SP subgroup and Robert MacDonald for additional swag, and to Dr Miller Saunders for her AGM presentation (Jennifer)
- Action - Ask SP group if would like to have join SP/branch AGM in Spring 2019 (Nick)
- Action - Add hospitality committee to next AGM, to welcome newcomers (Defer)
- Debrief from BC/YK regional council (Delegates JM, BW, TL and CC)
- Motions on increasing executive size and youth seat failed
- Cost to PIPSC of internal disharmony
- New hires’ perspective of union importance/relevance/role
- Partnerships, importance of service to larger community
- Regional exec - bylaws review this year, youth delegate to AGM, OHS training, youth forum
5. Standing items
- Phoenix - Rally in Nanaimo on August 22 got national media attention.; August 23, government announced is replacing Phoenix.
- Engagement/ event planning / future calendar
- Action: Look into branch event including public service -; Beach/stream clean-up (Jennifer) or kits for homeless (?)
- Action: Look into a branch family movie in the afternoon (Jennifer)
- Action: Look into a branch picnic in June (TBC)
- Action: Survey executive to branch AGM dates in May 2019 (Jennifer)
- Action: Contact local CLC chapters regarding liaising with PIPSC (Bill)
6. New Business / Roundtable
- PIPSC AGM in November in Ottawa (CC and JM attending with TL as alternate)
- Action: Order branch shirts for new executive members Diana and Kalie shirts (Carl) M/S CC/BW
- Action: Order visibility items for AGM, possibly TUIF shirts (JM/CC) M/S CC/BW
- Better Together purchased the branch a new banner and 4 flags
- Branch and SP subgroup co-hosted EWSP information session on June 28 at PBS
- $500 for pension info session by The Retirement Planning Institute, new service to Vancouver Island after January 2019
- RCMP CS’ joining PIPSC
- CS at RCMP not issued ID cards - CC forwarded concern
- Action: Ask SP group if interested in a joint Branch/SP subgroup meeting (Nick/Diana/Jennifer)
- Action: Add national days of significance to our calendar to consider when planning events (Jennifer - complete)
