75th ARC - Moncton Branch Report
May 25-26, 2018
Annual General Meeting
The Moncton Branch Annual General Meeting was held on September 19th, 2017, at the Beauséjour Curling Club in Moncton, NB. Forty-six members attended.
Kimberley Skanes our Atlantic Regional Director could not attend. Michael Pauley from the Atlantic Executive attended. President Debi Daviau sent her regrets and did not attend.
Elections took place for the Vice-President (2 year term), Secretary (2 year term) and 3 Members at Large positions (2 year term). Ginette LeBlanc won the Vice-President position. Kelly MacKinnon won the position of Secretary. These positions were all won by acclamation. There were 3 positions for 2 year terms for member-at-large which were filled by the following: Mike Dixon, Fred Basque and Mike Crozier were all acclaimed.
This year we decided to continue the same approach for the AGM. The Moncton CS Sub Group and the Moncton SP Sub Group held their annual AGM from 5 to 6 pm and then they all joined us for the Moncton Branch AGM. This format was a great success and the attendance for the AGM was much greater than previous years.
Seasonal Social
The Moncton Branch Seasonal Social was held on December 6, 2017, at the Dooley’s in Riverview, NB. We decided to do a different event than a sit down dinner. Members and guests that attended were able to play pool and darts. We had food catered in for the event. There was a total of fifty members and guests that attended. Feedback from this event was very positive.
Executive Meetings
A few Executive Meetings were held in 2017. We dealt with the planning of events using e-mails and several telephone discussions were also held throughout the year. We were able to have a meeting on November 9, 2017; January 31, 2018 and April 10, 2018.
A look at 2018…
The Branch is also planning a rally to be held on May 25, 2018, in conjunction with the ARC that is being held in Moncton.
The AGM is being planned for September 2018. The Seasonal Social is being planned for the first week of December 2018.
We have requested 2 sessions from SHE Outreach for presentation on the Federal Government Pension Plan. We are waiting to hear from them. We are also in the process of organizing several Lunch & Learn sessions for several departments in the Moncton Branch this year (date and location to be announced).
We would like to thank the staff at the Halifax office for their help and guidance during the past year.
