AV - Toronto AV Sub Group Report
- Formed during an AGM meeting on Dec. 6, 2017 at Cambridge Hotel located at 15 Richmond St.
- Fourteen (14) Union members’ present, including Group President Ray Paquette and Vice-President Peter Gabriel.
- Lalita Jeethan was elected as President, Elizabeth Eves as Vice-President, Michael Cacciavillani as Secretary and Emily Beckerman as Treasurer. Tommy Georgas is Member at Large.
- Emily Beckerman - resigned shortly after and Michael Cacciavillani assumed both roles as the Secretary and Treasurer. Emily did complete her Steward training and now is a PIPSC Steward.
- The discussion included the Employee Wellness Support Program (EWSP) that will replace the current sick leave provisions as well as funding and banking for our local sub-group..
Inaugural meeting 4 April 2018
- Held at 151 Yonge St, 3rd Floor boardroom.
- Thirty-five (35) union members’ including one from Trade Commissioners Office and another from Transport Canada attended.
- The Information session was on the EWSP and Domestic Violence (DV). Ray Paquette presented the information on the EWSP. He talked about consideration being given to cashing out employee sick leave if EWSP is accepted and that professional staff with a medical background will staff the program.
Questions were then taken.
- Tommy Georgas, the Ontario Regional Representative and member of the Bargaining Team was in attendance and assisted with the organization of the event. He briefly spoke on bargaining and fielded some questions on leave provisions".
- Feedback from the AV members included the length of time it takes to renew our contracts is unreasonable. Many members want a new contact now. Ray mentioned that this is election year that the government may try to have our contracts wrapped up by December 2018.
- Lunch was provided to members.
- The next meetings are tentatively scheduled for June, Sept and the AGM for December 2018. Details to follow.
(The meeting was interrupted, due to a health issue in the OSB offices. Most OSB employees missed the presentation, as they had to leave.)
