2017 Activities
May 27th, 2017 AGM: Held at the Travel Lodge in Kingston. Guest Speaker Stephane Aubry, National VP, was in attendance. Discussions regarding Phoenix and mobilization were the main topics of concern for our members. Guest Speaker Doug Mason was also in attendance and presented a bargaining update on the AFS group to members.
Membership event November 1st, 2017: In celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, it was fitting to host the event at the Sir John A Pub in Kingston in celebration of Canada’s first Prime Minister.
Guest speaker Tony Jones, ERO, was present and encouraged members to get involved. Mr. Jones also provided an overview of his role with PIPSC and steward immunity was discussed. Pete Josza, Chair of the Training Committee, was also present and provided an overview of different training opportunities within PIPSC. Mr. Josza also requested feedback from members as we move forward on what future training members would like to see available.
Issues and Concerns
Phoenix remains the main issue in our Region affecting some organizations more than others. Members are encouraged to speak up and get involved with mobilization by writing to their MP or PM. A rally is held downtown Kingston every pay day Wednesday at the MP’s office.
