Dear colleagues and friends,
At ECCC, we strive to create and maintain a healthy, respectful and inclusive workplace, where wellness and mental health are a priority.
In October, we recognize the following awareness events to highlight the importance of taking care of our mental health, especially during this pandemic.
- Throughout October: Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month
- October 3-9: Mental Illness Awareness Week
- October 10: World Mental Health Day
We encourage you to consult the resources at your disposal, to engage in discussions on mental health, and to participate in the following activities:
- The Canadian Innovation Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace:
- Wednesday, October 6: Mental health and wellness: Burnout and resilience in a pandemic
- Thursday, October 7: Understanding Key Concepts of Mental Health
- Recording of the session on stress and anxiety
- LifeSpeak
- Talk about mental health on your social media channels using the following hashtags: #GCMentalHealth, #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek, #MIAW20, #WorldMentalHealthDay and #MentalHealth.
In addition, starting this fall, a presentation entitled Mental Health and Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace will be offered to all ECCC employees. This presentation was created by the Mental Health team to respond to inquiries about psychological health and safety in the workplace. This short presentation is available to all employees at all levels. Everyone is encouraged to watch it and to make time to discuss as a team and during staff meetings.
Thank you for your ongoing efforts to promote a healthy, respectful and inclusive workplace that fosters a culture of caring. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, or anyone of your PIPSC Stewards, if you have questions, suggestions or comments to share.
Stay safe, stay well!
Respectfully,
Waheed Khan
President, National Consultation Team
