SP Elections 2019 - Leslie Nasmith

Candidate: Leslie Nasmith

I am a biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. I have been here for almost 10 years, and I’ve served as a PIPSC Steward for the last three years. I am a strong believer in the importance of public science.

We do public science for the public good, but there are many problems in our workplaces that affect our ability to work. Many young or new members still deal with the insecurity of term employment. Harassment and bullying is still a daily occurrence. Women and minorities still have to fight against biases to be treated as equals.

I would like your support to serve on the SP National Executive. I want to advocate for SP members and work on solutions to the challenges in our workplaces. I want to improve your working life so you can focus on your science.
