The SP Group Bargaining Team has been busy with bargaining training, bargaining proposal development, and the SP Group Bargaining Survey.
Since our last communication, your SP Group Bargaining has been very active preparing for the next round of bargaining.
In early September, all the bargaining teams from the PIPSC core public service groups and selected agencies attended negotiations training to ensure that bargaining teams have the same baseline training and preparation.
The training included seminars from PIPSC staff and interactive negotiation simulations developed by Harvard University to sharpen skills in strategy, deal-making, and conflict resolution.
The team spent several days refining the proposals to be presented at the January 2026 Bargaining Conference and, eventually, to the Treasury Board in the fall of 2026.
We ran an extensive engagement campaign to support the SP Group Bargaining Survey, including virtual town halls before the survey launch. The SP sub-groups organized information sessions, distributed printed information to members at work, and ran a phone and email outreach campaign that resulted in record survey participation!
In total, we saw an increase of almost 85% over the previous bargaining survey.
Your responses to the bargaining survey showed that the majority of you preferred shorter, more concise bargaining communications.
