Retired Members Guild Nova Scotia Chapter 2022 Annual General Meeting (Halifax, NS)

PRESENT:  Gary Legassie, President; Don Eldershaw, Vice President; Noel White, Treasurer; Anne Sheridan, Secretary; Don McDade, Member at Large; Brian Wolfe, Member at Large; Michael Forbes, Member at Large, Corinne Steele, Member at Large; Everett Scott, Member at Large

 

CALL TO ORDER

President called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM and welcomed everyone. Introduction of RMG attendees Corinne Steele and Everett Scott who agreed to serve as Members at Large.

 

ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Agenda adopted by show of hands.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES last meeting:  Motion to approve the minutes of the October 13 2022 meeting

 

OLD BUSINESS REVIEWED:

  1. Carry forward for next meeting - Standardization of Chapter communications adopted as generally outlined in the document entitled “PIPSC RMGNS Chapter Min Month Year.docx” format 
  2. Review of minutes: PIPSC RMGNS Chapter Minutes October 13, 2022

 

REPORTS:

1. President’s Report: Nothing new to report

2. Treasurer’s Report: Noel White presented an overview of the Chapter finances.  We currently have $375.75 in our BMO account to be carried into 2023. The RMG allotment for this year will be $800. The report has been submitted to the head treasurer of RMG

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Don Eldershaw outlined some new Service Plus benefits
  2. Assign a liaison for all RMG Chapters and also monitor and make recommendations for the PIPSC RMG webpage. Action: Mike Forbes
  3. Extend an invitation to the Atlantic Regional Director to attend our next meeting. Action: Gary Legassie
  4. Request someone determine and organize possible events that RMG members may be interested in attending. Action: Everett Scott
  5. Chapter elections are not necessary until November 2023

 

ROUND TABLE:

  1. Brian Wolfe discussed how to increase the RMG members participation in the group and showing the benefits of becoming a member upon retirement from the Public Service
  2. Discussion on types of activities that retired members would be interested in attending
  3. Update data to produce a cost benefit analysis of the positive contribution of the RMG to PIPSC
