RE Group - Kathleen Emberson
I am a Survey Methodologist at Statistics Canada, where I began my career in the public service in 2002.
I have been involved in the RE STC-CEO-PWGSC NCR subgroup since 2005, having held the position of president or vice president for 8 of the last 10 years. In 2008, I became a PIPSC steward. I have been a member of the Statistics Canada Branch for the past 4 years and I am a member of the Statistics Canada National Consultation Team, currently holding an alternate position on the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
Ensuring the fair treatment and compensation for all employees is one of my core values. As a mother of a young child, I have a particular interest in issues facing families with young children. I also want to work towards the recognition that the relationships that affect the wellbeing of employees are defined more broadly than the definition of immediate family.
I joined the RE Group Executive with a view of becoming more involved in contract negotiations. I have learned a lot more about the other classifications of the RE Group in my year and a half on the executive. I would like to continue to learn more so I can better represent all the members of our group.
I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue to represent you on the executive.
