To all proud IT Group Members,

Your bargaining team met with the employer for the second session of negotiations from April 5th to 7th, 2022. We signed off on several administrative changes to the contract and began discussions on some of the more significant issues such as flexibility in hours of work, overtime, family-related leave, and holidays.

We have requested that the employer provide us with their cost estimates of our monetary associated demands in order to have a better understanding of the entire cost of our proposals package, excluding wages which will be tabled at a later date. Your union will also provide its own estimates for comparison and this will allow us to better maneuver as negotiations proceed.

The employer has indicated that a change to the Contracting Out language is a priority for them. However, given the importance of ensuring that IT work remains in the hands of IT members, we stand very far apart on this critical issue.

The next bargaining session will take place May 17-19, 2022.

Thank you to all those who showed their solidarity and their colours on the IT Day of Action and for your continued support.

In solidarity,

Robert Scott

IT Group Bargaining Officer
