After intense negotiations, the Veterinary Medicine (VM) bargaining team is pleased to announce that we signed a tentative agreement with the CFIA, concluding this round of bargaining.

This agreement must now be ratified by the VM membership. Regular members in good standing will receive the voting instructions by email. Ensure your contact information is up to date so that you can participate in the vote.

In terms of salary, we have signed a 4-year contract with economic increases over 4 years (2.5%, 2%, 1.5%, 1.5%). To address wage compression between the VM-02 and VM-03 classifications, an additional special adjustment of 2% will be applied to the VM-03 classification in the fourth year.

This agreement includes the major wins PIPSC secured for other groups in the core public administration:

  • Domestic violence leave
  • Updated maternity and parental benefits
  • A broader definition of family for family-related leave
  • An agreement to review harassment procedures
  • A commitment to use gender-inclusive language in the collective agreement

Full details of the agreement will be provided in a ratification package, which will be posted to the VM Group page shortly. Your bargaining team will also host webinars to discuss the details of this tentative agreement before the vote.

Voting dates will be announced shortly. Keep an eye on your email or the group page for updates!
