Dear BCFNHA PIPSC Members,
We are making one last call for any PIPSC Members who are interested in potentially joining the bargaining team. Bargaining is a great way to get involved in your union, help ensure the voices of all members are heard, and help improve our Collective Agreement.
The Executive would like to create a bargaining team that has fair representation from all professional groups, with a mix of experienced and new bargaining members, as well as ensuring we have Indigenous voices on the team. We ask you to consider putting your name forward to be considered.
Here is a little more information to help you make a decision, if bargaining might be right for you.
- Bargaining will be a hybrid model, meaning some meetings in-person and some online
- In-person meetings will occur in Vancouver
- Travel, expenses, and wages for missed work time are covered by PIPSC
- Dates are set in advance, as much as possible; anticipate being in Vancouver for a week at a time
- The bargaining team will receive 1-2 days of in-person training (in Vancouver, expenses covered by PIPSC)
Availability and flexibility are important; we want members who can commit to the process, and there is no way to predict how long bargaining will last.
Attendance is important and we also recognize that for members who live far away, travel to Vancouver can be challenging, which is why we’ve agreed to a hybrid model.
The bargaining team will be comprised of 5 core members and 2 alternates. The five core members would be participating fully in the bargaining process, including voting on issues that come up during the process. The two alternates would be attending meetings and staying up to date, and ready to step in to replace one of the core members, if needed.
