AV North Central Vancouver Island (NCVI) Subgroup Executive Committee Meeting

January 19, 2018, 11:00 – 11:30 am

Aquaculture Boardroom, 1965 Island Diesel Way, Nanaimo, BC

Attendance:

Bernie Taekema (Spring 2019) President

Monica Walker (Spring 2018) Vice-President/Secretary

Jennifer Mollins (Spring 2019) Treasurer

Meeting Quorum (2 executives).  Meeting called to order at 11:00 am by B. Taekema.

Agenda:

1. Review and approve agenda
2. Old business
   1. Dec. 5, 2017 lunch and learn session was well received.  Dan Leus, a steward from PBS who attended the PIPSC AGM, gave a debrief on the PIPSC AGM and presented on pay issues.  Subgroup followed up with a survey that received 6 responses, noting 2 members have been significantly impacted by the Phoenix Pay System.  The session was appreciated by all attendees. 
   2. Motion to spend $280 on visibility items for AV subgroup for rallies (M/S JM/MW) including a flag $68, 10 fluorescent yellow vests at $7.50 each and 10 baseball caps at $10 each, and one umbrella for $20 (purchase has not been processed yet).
   3. The NCVI Subgroup AGM is scheduled for Feb. 7, 2018.  B. Taekema to invite national executive and Jean to the AGM.  J. Mollins to make arrangements for meal.  M. Walker to send out invitation to updated member list, and to PIPSC for publishing on the website.  J. Mollins to prepare financial statement and budgets to be presented at the AFM.  Jennifer will run the election of the VP/secretary position for a two-year term.
3. New Business
   1. New stewards?  None.
