Group Bargaining Advisory Conference Report
Hello Colleagues,
Our first Group Bargaining Advisory Conference, whereby 30 AU-CO-PG members from across Canada participated to express their issues and then prioritize all into a working group strategy going forward, was a grand success.
Participants provided feedback and they were extremely satisfied regarding the working day sessions and the agenda format. As one participant wrote “A very productive day”.
The input received from our members regarding the plenary sessions and group discussions is an important step forward in increasing inclusiveness within the group. Having our members more involved in the bargaining process as “advisors” is a critical positive step to stay in tune with our members needs as we progress in this round of bargaining, which is slated to begin in September 2018.
Many thanks to our PIPSC President Debi Daviau for delivering our keynote speech at 8:15am and then participating in a question and answer period. President Daviau’s vision, strategy, support and commitment will assist the group bargaining team going forward.
Also, thanks to our PIPSC Staff resources, Economist Ryan Campbell, our negotiators Cara Ryan and Denise Doherty, and our Group administrator Natalie Belanger for all their work putting this conference together.
And a special mention and thanks to former Group President Ray Paquette, who is continuing his work as a member on the PIPSC Employee Wellness Support Program bargaining team, as well as a member on the PIPSC Domestic Violence bargaining team.
A very successful working day which featured all members expressing their thoughts in a formal setting and a great lead-in for the next day July 20 Bargaining Team meeting where all the information will be put together in the beginning phase of our draft proposal.
Our Group Bargaining Team Members are as follows:
Peter Gabriel (PG) , James Bright (PG), Gord Sanford (PG), Gerry Morrissey (CO), Andree Doucet (CO), Jason Huang (CO) and Raymond Poon (AU)
Thanks to all members for participating. More information to follow in the months ahead.
And from our Group Executive, please enjoy your summer with your family and friends as this is the time to rest, relax and recharge our batteries, as we prepare for the fall bargaining round, and also our professional work schedule. Stay healthy and safe.
Better Together!
