My first year as a Member at large Executive

As a member at large on the AV National Executive in the NCR, I worked with other members of the executive to engage AV members in the NCR. This included regular members, AV Stewards and the public. Engaging these groups meant having one-on-one conversations and helping to organize events where accurate information can be provided, there are opportunities for networking, and, most importantly, an opportunity to empower and motivate individuals to get involved and take action. I also attended both the NCR Stewards’ Council and the PIPSC National AGM in order to better understand current events taking place both internal and external to my union.

For 2019-20, I intend to work with the regional member for the NCR along with other AV Executive members to select a number of creative and achievable events to engage members in the upcoming year. A calendar of events and an event budget will be created to ensure the success of all the events. Engaging the entire Executive and volunteering to assist with these events will position me to better respond to changes affecting not only the AV group, but all PIPSC members.
