Sub-Group President Report
April 2018
Activities done during the year - brief list of activities during the past year:
- An event was held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in April 2017 which was attended by 27 people.
- The AGM was held July 2017 at the CanadInns and
- The Subgroup Executive Committee met 4 times throughout this year to discuss union related office issues and plan upcoming events.
- JLP Training – Understanding the Collective Agreements
- This training session took place November 8, 2018 in cooperation with management at PSPC. This session had 17 participants
- Lunch and Learn – Understanding Your Pay stubs
- This training session took place over a pizza luncheon November 30th and was well attended. We had 29 participants and Peter Gabriel was able to present the lunch and learn to our members.
- A Winnipeg Harvest volunteer afternoon was planned, but was lacking participants so the event will be rescheduled
- A family event is in the works for this Spring which will include a movie night
- A Member survey was circulated to poll members on what matters most to them, solicit suggestions on how the union could help members better, ideas for events, etc. The executive subgroup will be using this information to respond to the preferences of our members. We are aiming to reach more members and increase participation in our events.
- We have scheduled our AGM for mid-May and the invite was sent out to the members.
Membership population
Currently we have 119 members under out Sub Group. We have contacted a couple of Rand members and had them sign up with PIPSC as members.

It was noted the majority of the Executive committee representatives were PSPC, and our goal this year is to plan site visits to other offices and recruit members at large from other departments.
