AV - NCR Report

 

As the NCR Rep I participate in as many event as I can that have been sponsored by the AV Ottawa or AV Gatineau Sub-groups.  In November I hosted an an information session on the MOA’s for Domestic Violence, Employee Wellness Support Program (EWSP), and an update on Phoenix.    This event was followed by the screening of "Justice League".

 

AV Ottawa Events

  • July 25, 2017 a Lunch & Learn on Retro Pay and Bill C-27 was held.  The purpose was to calculate and understand your retroactive pay and learn about Bill C-27 which impacts pensions. Representatives from The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) were on hand for a discussion and to answer questions.
  • September 13, 2017 the Annual Steward Appreciation Event was hosted by AV Ottawa, This annual event is open to stewards in Ottawa and Gatineau, it provided an opportunity for AV stewards to network and discuss current issues.
  • September 21, 2017 BBQ Mobilization Event. In keeping with PIPSC’s slogan of “Better Together”, the OCB and the AV Ottawa Sub-group Executives, in partnership, hosted a joint Barbecue. This gave our members an opportunity to meet stewards, executives, members of our collective bargaining teams and fellow members.
  • Various other Lunch & Learns at were hosted for our AV Members at NRCan, GAC and CBSA.
  • April 11, 2018 the AV-Ottawa Sub-Group was pleased to present an Estate Planning Presentation for its members. The sessions are specifically targeted to Federal Public Service employees and are presented by the Retirement Planning Institute, who are acknowledged experts in federal public sector pensions.
  • Sub-Group AGM will be held in late May 2018.

AV Gatineau Events

  • July 2017 AV Gatineau held a Morning session and Noon to 1:00pm session. Topics included the following: Review recent retro-payments progress and assist members with FAQ and Answers, and also our new AV Group collective agreement highlights.
  • September 12 2017 a Networking BBQ 2017 for AV Gatineau Subgroup members.  Updates on the PIPSC AV Group recent retro-payments and updates on Pensions STOP Bill C-27 Campaign.   Guest Speakers - PIPSC President Debi Daviau and AV Gatineau Subgroup President and National Vice-President AV Group Peter Gabriel
  • December 14th, 2017 AV Gatineau Subgroup, Gatineau Branch Ottawa East Branch and CS Hull subgroup held an information session followed by a pre-screening of STAR WARS: The Last Jedi (English version).  This was such a popular event that it was hosted at both: Starcité Gatineau Cinemas– and  Scotiabank Theatre Ottawa
  • December 19, 2017 Networking Information Session as held.  This information session was for members, including discussing the upcoming new 2018 bargaining strategy and survey, a progress report on Employee Wellness Sick Leave Plan negotiations (EWSP), the Domestic Violence MOA progress, the Mental Health in the Workplace update, Phoenix Pay Centre update.
