Your AFS Bargaining Team met with CRA management March 19 to 21 to continue negotiations to renew our collective agreement.

We discussed a number of our members’ concerns and agreed to improvements for bereavement leave and a few minor items.  We also agreed to continue our important work to review CRA’s outdated and discriminatory classification systems.  Finally, the Employer tabled all of their placeholders. These are positive developments.

We are scheduled to meet again on April 30 to May 2 and then on May 22 to 24.  After that, we anticipate that the writ will be dropped for the Federal Election and the finalization of a tentative agreement will be delayed until after the fall election. While we made progress in this round, we reminded the Employer that we need to resolve our priorities soon to reach an agreement in a timely manner.

Our members identified flexible work arrangements as their top non-pay concern.  We’ve been talking about improving flexible work arrangements for our members for years. We need the Employer to commit to concrete improvements in our collective agreement at our next bargaining session.

Thanks to all of our AFS members and stewards for their support.
