Organizing SAC meeting dates for 2023

SAC Strategic Operational Plan

Last year we organized 3 training sessions on Scientific Integrity. Joanne, David, Georgine, Sushil and Kevin attended a session. Waheed would like to offer the training to new members this year.

7.1 SAC Presentation slide deck

Waheed encourages everyone to share and give presentations with this slide deck. 

7.2 Reach out to member to share their stories

Many people don’t know what science members are really doing.
Georgine suggests a video of different classifications that show highlights of the work in Science.

Vision:

1. To promote Public Science for Public Good.
2. To advance scientific integrity (SI) within the federal public service and promote to Separate Employers.
3. To address chronic career stagnation, pay gaps and employment equity gaps so that all PIPSC scientists and researchers receive equal pay for equal value of work, and have adequate opportunities for career advancement, commensurate with their qualifications and experience. 
4. To advocate for increased and sustained federal intramural science funding and science-informed decision-making, aligned with public interest.

Objectives:

1. Continue internal and external monitoring activities and support for members on SI
2. Strengthen members’ understanding of SI, their rights, and mechanisms available to address SI issues
3. Develop and strengthen relationships with external partners with shared interests, to promote public science for public good.
4. Support the career development of PIPSC women in science (WiS)
5. Support career development of scientists, especially for equity-deserving groups, and members without a career path and/or stagnating at their pay scales.
6. Enhance government decision-makers’ understanding and support of the need for increased science capacity and funding.

7.3 Science Symposium
