L'Institut professionnel de la fonction publique du Canada

The BCFNHA group executive is looking for members who would be interested in becoming part of the bargaining team for the next round of collective bargaining (contract negotiations) with the employer.

If you are interested in joining the bargaining team or would like more information, please contact the BCFNHA PIPSC executive at bcfnha_exec@pipsc.ca by October 2, 2020.

We’re keenly looking for increased representation from members in the following groups:

  • Members working in the Greater Vancouver Area
  • Members working in non-nursing classifications

We will likely be scheduling training for the bargaining team in the month of October.

Please note that this is a commitment that may last for up to one year or more, depending on how the process unfolds. The general time commitment is between 3 to 5 days in a week when bargaining is scheduled. Sometimes negotiation sessions last outside of regular business hours, and there can be work to do in the evenings. During bargaining, we would be scheduling sessions every 4 to 6 weeks.

Traditionally we have met with the employer in person for these sessions, so please be prepared to do so. Depending on the situation with COVID-19, these meetings might have to happen virtually.

As a member of the bargaining team, you will be liberated from your work tasks for bargaining sessions with the employer. In addition to the actual bargaining time, bargaining team members will participate in teleconferencing with their team (lunch hour teleconferences), reaching out to members for their input, and acting as a communications channel for other members throughout the bargaining process.
